The Story of Redline and Tensor City
SPINE takes place in Tensor City, a cyberpunk megacity constructed by an AI to protect humanity from ecological collapse. The autocratic AI regime uses a Social Rating system to divide the population. The wealthy elite reside in the gleaming New City above, while the less fortunate inhabit the decaying Old City below.
Players assume the role of Redline, a rebel street artist operating in the slums. Redline rebels against the AI authorities after a mafia heist goes wrong and results in the capture of her brother.
To survive the conflict, Redline relies on a sentient combat implant known as a Spine. The implant possesses a mind of its own and grants Redline the physical enhancements necessary to fight the city’s enforcers.
The primary antagonist is Judge, the supreme leader of Tensor City. The regime also employs powerful enforcers known as Tensor’s Children, including characters like Edda Kopp and Malady, who wield their own Spine implants.
Fans can explore the lore further through the Webtoon series SPINE: Bullet Dancers. Nekki publishes this digital comic to expand the narrative universe ahead of the action game’s launch.
