Grounded 2 is one of those early access titles that already feels like a full game. So as one can imagine, fans are excited about what comes next and we’re not even talking about the full 1.0 release yet. Thanks to its detailed and exciting roadmap, Obsidian Entertainment has successfully hooked fans into diving into the game now, even pulling in players who would normally hold out for the full release.
What’s Next on Grounded 2’s Updated Roadmap
Grounded 2’s latest update, Beat The Heat, officially dropped yesterday. It brings a massive wave of content to the backyard, including a brutal new boss fight against King Dozer, a brand-new buggy progression system to buff up your mounts, and some highly requested quality-of-life features across the park.
On top of it, the seasonal Easter content was released alongside it which features hidden easter eggs that drop marshmallows. These can be used to craft new Ranger Station recipes for a sugar rush or saved up to build a marshmallow chair once the recipe releases later this month. It’s a solid update across the board with the only downside being that it landed midweek, making it a bit harder to fully settle in without sacrificing sleep.
Upon the release of Beat the Heat, Obsidian Entertainment also updated its early access roadmap. There’s not a massive shift in direction, apart from updating the official name of the current update and revealing the previously hidden “Park Boss: Lizard.”

Looking forward, it’s hard not to get excited about the summer update. This next phase is centered entirely around water and is currently being referred to as the Pond Update by the fans. It’s set to introduce water creatures, water-based building options, and a water buggy to expand traversal. On top of that, crossplay support for Steam Deck via a Microsoft account is also included.
Beyond the summer update, the roadmap currently wraps up with a “Future Plans” section. This includes two new locations that haven’t been revealed yet. There’s no release window attached to these plans for now, but it’s easy to imagine that once the Pond update lands, those placeholders will expand into more defined updates. That could also be where the path toward a full 1.0 release starts to take shape.
