Diablo 4 had their seasonal Campfire Chat, where they discussed the new content and changes coming to Season 7: Season of Witchcraft. If you missed the chat, here’s a TL;DR on everything they discussed.

Season Launch Date

The first thing they discussed was the release date of Season of Witchcraft, which will be January 21, 2025.

Witchcraft Powers

The team discussed the new Witchcraft powers and gave a few details about the system. They talked about three types of powers:

• Eldritch: Weird, bizarre, uncanny magic
• Psyche: Magic focusing on mind and spirit
• Growth & Decay: Magic focusing on healing and harm.

The Witch powers will be Alt-Friendly; meaning they’ll persist across alternate characters. 

Headhunts and Rootholds

The team talked about the Headhunts and Rootholds and what they’re about. Headhunts will involve spawning bosses and retrieving missing heads to earn Witch powers. Rootholds are areas with a dense enemy population that require special keys to access. 

Occult Gems and Tree of Whispers Updates

They also discussed the new Occult Gems, which are powerful gems used for jewelry customization. The team talked about the new updates coming to the Tree of Whispers. The Tree will be used to turn in Grim Favors to earn rewards. 

Enhanced Endgame Content

In the Campfire Chat, they talked about enhancing the endgame content. The Final Seasonal Journey Chapter will be more challenging with better rewards and a new flying pet. They wanted to address the gap between hardcore players seeking a more engaging and long-term goal when playing the new season. 

Balance Changes and Bug Fixes

They addressed the builds that were too overpowered in the Public Test Realm. Summons and companions will be tied to the player stats, making them more impactful. 

Class Updates

The Campfire Chat tackled some class-specific updates to Season 7. 

• Barbarian: Improved the Hoda and Whirlwind builds. Unique effects, such as explosions on Earthquake hits, were added.
• Sorcerer: Buffed the passives for overall improvement. They introduced options for the Ball Lightning Mechanics.
• Druid: Enhanced the Blurred Beast and Spirit Boons, but there will be no Uniques for Spirit Boon yet.
• Rogue: Shadow Clones will now replicate legendary effects, making them more versatile.
• Necromancer: They fixed the overpowered build from the Public Test Realm and added significant updates to the Summon mechanic.
• Spiritborn: The Razor Wings and Focus skills were updated.

Armory System

The Armory System will be changed in Season 7. The Armory will allow saving, loading, and naming builds with equipment, skills, and Paragon configurations. The system will be fully accessible across characters and areas without cost but will arrive late in the game’s cycle. 

Codex and Class Mechanics

Changes to the Codex and Class Mechanics are coming in Season 7. The Codex will have a more straightforward progression. Class Mechanic quests will be account-wide, with optional repeat runs that offer valuable rewards. 

Visual and Quality of Life Improvements

The last thing the Campfire Chat discussed was quality of life and visual improvements. They made efforts to reduce the visual clutter during gameplay and discussed a potential Armory stash space in the future.
