Some geocaches test your navigation skills. Others challenge your puzzle-solving abilities. But Het Escapehouse (GCB4WBN) dares you to do both inside a miniature replica of a real home.
Created by Nabuursjes with the help of students from ‘Praktijkschool De Singel’ and Arnoud van Uden, this geocache transforms the concept of an escape room into an outdoor adventure, complete with switches, clues, and one very clever code.
Imagine walking up to a large wooden house-shaped box, handcrafted with care. To open it, you first need to solve a small puzzle: take each digit of the house number and add one to it.
Two doors open outward to reveal what appears to be a tiny home interior filled with miniature furniture, figures, details, and most importantly, twelve mysterious switches.

On the inside of the door, a set of instructions explains your mission. To unlock the cache, you need to answer twelve questions about the miniature house in front of you. Each correct answer determines whether a switch should be flipped up or down. Once all the switches are in place, press the button and watch as the code appears on the screen built into the windows of the miniature house’s roof. That code is your key to open the logbook compartment.
You can watch the video below to see how it all works in action.

The cache page warns that no force is needed. Every piece, every mechanism, every bit of wiring is designed for precision and creativity. This is not a cache to rush through; it’s one to appreciate.
Cache owner’s reminder: “This escape house was created with a lot of effort, so please handle it with care. You won’t need strength or force — just patience and attention to detail.”

When your mission is complete, three separate containers are waiting for you: one for the logbook, one for Travel Bugs, and one for SWAG. If you take a piece of SWAG, be sure to leave something of equal or greater value in exchange.
Before leaving, be sure to flip all the switches back up, ready for the next team of adventurers to take on the challenge.

A geocacher NTM27 who recently visited summed it up beautifully:
“These cache owners recreated their own house as a geocache! You have to answer 12 questions about the house to set the switches in the right position. When they’re all correct, the code reveals itself. Honestly a mind-blowing geocache and the best one I’ve found in a long time!”
Geosé:
“Back again today with help from a teacher I want to share the idea with. I know what I did wrong last time — didn’t read carefully enough… AND I got someone really excited about the concept, so hopefully soon students in Nijmegen can make something like this for my garden!! Thanks. A big favorite, of course!”
Stories like this show just how inspiring this cache is. For some, it may spark creativity, encourage collaboration between teachers and students, or even inspire similar projects.
Blending craftsmanship, curiosity, and play, Het Escapehouse transforms geocaching into an experience of pure imagination. Every detail, from its handmade design to its hidden logic, celebrates the creativity and collaboration that make this hobby so special.
Have you ever opened a cache and felt like you’d entered a tiny world?
