Kop van Drenthe GeoTour (​​GT4A3) invites you to discover all of the stories the area has to offer. Wandering through the region, geocachers will find 73 geocaches hidden among the secrets in the vast landscape.

Follow their stories of the village of Veenhuizen, visit the Mensinge estate, or discover the estates of the wealthy Groningers. Enjoy the hidden streams and lakes, spot a Scottish Highlander, and wander through the ancient Esdorpen landscape.

The Kop van Drenthe region is an area in the north of Drenthe, the original province of the Netherlands. Every kilometer is unique, thanks to the transitions between diverse landscapes, where the unique people of the past and present have left their mark. Some are world-famous, others still undiscovered… known only to the people of Drenthe.

GC96YTW—With over 890 Favorite points, this geocache is inspired by the honeybee, the most common bee species. Just like this cache, honeybees are present year-round, even in winter. Within the colony lives the queen, a larger bee that lays eggs. Her presence ensures that everything in the colony functions properly. Can you find the cache container?

GC96QT7—This is a classic game of “who done it,” and geocachers have to figure out who robbed Mrs. Lebbe to find the cache container for this geocache. At just over 580 Favorite points, this geocache is a must find on the tour.

GC93GR8–”Berend Botje went sailing with his little boat to Zuidlaren, the road was straight, the road was crooked, Berend Botje never came back.” This well-known children’s song is hundreds of years old and was first written down in 1894, but legend has it that it’s much older. The song about Berend Botje inspires this section of the GeoTour Kop van Drenthe and consists of 10 caches.
