Warner Bros. has pushed back the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie from its October 24, 2025, release date. The film will now launch on May 15, 2026.
Fans will have to wait seven more months to see the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2, after Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have decided to delay the film until May 15, 2026.
The delay has disappointed fans, who were looking forward to seeing the sequel after the surprise success of Mortal Kombat (2021), starring Lewis Tan and Jessica McNamee.

Why Mortal Kombat 2 Was Delayed
An exclusive by Deadline reveals Warner Bros. decided to delay Mortal Kombat 2 to avoid a “crowded” October. Notable films also slated for release on the same date include Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, Regretting You, and Bugonia.
It might not be a bad thing to shift the release date, as there is a lot of hype surrounding the movie at the moment, with its original Red Band trailer receiving over 100 million views globally in its first 24 hours.
What to Expect from Mortal Kombat 2
Mortal Kombat 2 is the long-awaited sequel to 2001’s Mortal Kombat, and it stars Karl Urban as Jonny Cage, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, and Jessica McNamee, who returns as Sonya Blade.
The script was written by Jeremy Slater, who wrote Disney’s Moon Knight, and is being produced by Todd Garner, James Wan, and Simon McQuoid.
