Cheating has always been a hot topic in the Valorant community, as players and devs suffer from hackers. However, it seems that Vanguard Anti-Cheat has become more active lately, as there has been an increase in the number of accounts being terminated. And Riot has confirmed this.

Vanguard Banning Every 37 Seconds

In a recent Valorat News post, it’s been said that Valorant has banned 3.6 million accounts over the last four years, meaning a cheater is banned every 37 seconds. These restrictions include first-time and repeat offenders. The graph in the article indicates that cheaters can play between 13 and 15 games before Vanguard can detect and ban them. While these are still worrisome numbers, the guarantee that the anti-cheat engine identifies cheaters makes the system better than most games.

Spike in Accounts Banned

In an X post, it’s been revealed that the number of bans issued during December 2024 and January 2025 has spiked beyond 12,000, including hardware, cheating, and manual bans. Valorant has reaffirmed that they’re hitting much harder now regarding their crackdown on bans.

More Updates on the Status of Valorant

Valorant developers gave us an update on Valorant’s status regarding cheating. They revealed how they’re handling the current situation, especially with the surge in cheaters. While Vanguard has been doing a tremendous job, hackers from each regional server have been developing ways to create more cheats. Fortunately, developers have been attempting to combat these personalized hacks by developing tech catered to each region.

While devs are working hard to combat cheaters, it’s doubtful that cheating can be completely eradicated. That’s because hackers are continuously developing and updating their cheats to outpace anti-cheat development, so while Vanguard continuously gets an upgrade, hacks will also evolve. Fortunately, Valorants are one step ahead of this situation, as they’re offered RR refunds for those who lost in matches involving cheaters.
